Go Coast or Go Home!

Greetings from the "blog machine"!

Today we experimented with heights. We took turns bungie jumping off the roof, most of us had harnesses, don't worry. We got into a nail gun fight, which, to our surprise, was not as fun as a water gun fight. And, Mrs. Donnelly and Ms. Loyden met some new friends at a bar, I guess it was 5:00 somewhere.

JUST KIDDING!!!!!

This is what really happened today.
Getting up this morning was quite difficult (Maybe because of our late night chat, about grade school drama). We headed off to our third day on the work site and joined the Habitat for Humanity crew that we've been spending a lot of time with this week. Our two head contractors are Ryan (who looks like Owen Wilson) and Steven who patiently guide us and answer all of our questions no matter how annoying we get. Today was the toughest day so far, we think everyone's exhaustion is starting to hit them (Marie fell asleep in one of the chairs on the site). We did a large amount of painting and a lot of tedious cut ins. Gabby, Stephanie, Abby, and Cara spent a good amount on the roof covering the shakers with primer. Power tools were used today often, after being well-trained and supervised. After returning home after our hard day, most of the girls relaxed, but Julia did manage to get Cara and Vivi to run with her. Everyone showered and cleaned themselves up for our night out on the town. We ate dinner at a place called Shaggy's, outside on high deck, which overlooked the piers. It was so nice to watch the sunset over the Gulf. We enjoyed Po-Boys, Gumbo, and Nachos (we were very hungry). When we were finished with our meals we went out on the piers and had a photoshoot. Many locals were fishing and a young boy caught an eel. We were surprised when all the sudden he quickly chopped his head off right in front of our eyes (apparently, it was shark bait). We are back at Lagniappe now and everyone is relaxing and getting ready for bed. We miss everyone back home, we will see you soon!

A special hello to the Jones and Notarianni families! This blog was written by Gabby and Cara.

  4. I think hard work agrees with you because you all look so beautiful in your pictures on the pier! Abigail, the Helbigs and Loftuses are at Harry Potter tonight but promised to see it again with you when you get home. I think we'll let you sleep for a few days first....
Love you and miss seeing you every day,

  5. Hi, Girls. We are very impressed once again. All smiles, no tears. Anxious to hear if the grade school melodrama you talked about last night once again included the infamous OLP vs St. Paul's cross country debacle when you were in 7th grade!

Julia, I am quite proud that you've taken over the coaching/coaxing role! To run in that heat takes courage and lots of water. Be careful.

Ellen, we'll be back in America tomorrow. The bros miss you, and so do I. You all look happy and connected. Enjoy the rest of your journey.
    Love,
    Mrs. Fitz/Mom

  6. Hey Ab,
Seeing Harry Potter was not the same without you. The movie was definitely a disappointment and some of the changes were so stupid, but I guess they're getting better.(That was for Erin and Vivi) I hope you're having fun and you're not too burnt. I don't know how you manage to wake up so early, considering that it's 5:40 a.m. here and I can't fall asleep. I hope the rest of your time there is great. I'll see you soon and hopefully you can make a delicious dessert for Nana's if you're not too tired. Tell everybody I said Hi even though they will all probably see this terrible and not funny post.
    Love,
    Bryan

  9. Hi Erin and friends,

Look like Mom covered all the important stuff. It also looks like next time there's "construction" work to be done, I'm going to have help.

Hope you enjoyed your Thursday and don't forget pictures of the finished house. It doesn't take long when you have a good crew.

    Take care, love,

    Dad

  12. Hey y'all!

My only question is... who let Ms. Loyden use the Miter saw??????

I read your blog every day, and you've gotten quite the following back home. I ran into a number of Mississippi Service Alumni at the midnight show of Harry Potter (yes I was there) who ALL told me that they're reading the blog every day as well! So, even though they're not commenting, trust me when I say that all of us "alum" are keeping close tabs on you, wishing we could all be there as well (especially when you let unauthorized chaperones use power tools, really you all are nuts).

Once again, you're all in my thoughts and prayers every day. Stay safe, stay hydrated, and keep pestering Donnelly to take you for sno-balls (ask for it "stuffed").

Keep up the great work, ladies!
    Love,
    Ms. Tyrrell

  13. Hi Erin! and everyone else!

Wow! I'm really impressed, you guys seem to have done a lot! Im really proud of all of you.
Not much is going on around here, I am just eating a lot of ice cream, although the mannings service is really lacking without your expertise. Hopefully I will be able to eat whole foods when we go out on Monday!
I miss you, and cant wait to see you!

    Keep up the great work!

    Lots of love,
    Kelcey

  15. Now I know you are all becoming true professionals. The phrase "tedious cut ins" is the give-away. You know the lingo. Very proud of you and I don't even know you! : )

  21. Hi Samarah and friends! I'm so proud of all of you and you all look great in the pictures. I'm going to need to get some more ink for the printer very soon! Like Auntie said, I'm busy bragging to everyone that I know who comes in the deli. Today auntie's friend Sammy came in and said he'd done that before and wished you his best. I still miss you alot and can't wait til Sunday. Keep up the good work babe! I love you. Mom

  22. Dear Abigail,
Nothing much is new here. I have to take Bryan shopping for his service trip supplies this week...I can't believe that he'll be going soon. I'm going to visit Patricia in Danville on Saturday. I made a stop today at Sam's Club so I have plenty of food for her. Colleen worked last week as one of the orientation people at the U and she loved it, but you know how she loves doing that kind of stuff. Everyone had their checkup this week with Andy Brown so they all saw Jeanne in her dental scrubs...she looked great!
We can't wait to see you in a few days!

    Jeanne
